Button Reference

Grout attempts to be consistent with its controls. Here's a quick reference:

Button Description
A Confirm / Select
B Back / Cancel
X Secondary action (Search, Settings)
Y Tertiary action (Filters, Save Sync, Game Options)
Start Confirm / Save settings
Select Toggle list mode (multi-select, reorder)
L1 / R1 Jump letter groups in game lists; deselect/select all in multi-select; used in button combos
Menu Context action (BIOS, also used in button combos)
L2 Acts as Menu on Miyoo devices
Up/Down Navigate lists
Left/Right Cycle options / Jump pages in list

On-Screen Keyboard

Wherever Grout needs text input (search, hostname, pairing code, device name, slot names, custom folder names), an on-screen keyboard appears:

Button Description
D-Pad Move between keys
A Press the highlighted key
B Backspace
X Space (toggles symbols on the URL keyboard)
Select Toggle shift
L1 / R1 Move the text cursor left/right
Start Save and close
Y Exit without saving
Menu Toggle the keyboard help overlay

Status Bar Icons

The status bar displays icons to indicate background activity. Here's what each icon means:

Cache Sync Icons

These icons appear during the background cache sync process:

Icon Description
Database Sync Cache sync in progress
Database Check Cache sync completed successfully
Database Alert Cache sync encountered an error

Update Icon

A download icon appears in the status bar when a Grout update is available on your release channel. Install it from Settings > Check for Updates.
